Why I define myself as an interior decorator and not an interior architect ?

As an interior decorator, I am often faced with a recurring question: why not be an interior architect ?

First of all, I firmly believe in the complementarity of the professions of decoration, interior architecture, and architecture. Each brings its own expertise and sensitivity to the creation of unique and harmonious spaces.

As an interior decorator, I focus primarily on creating personalised atmospheres and aesthetics, in line with my clients’ needs and aspirations. My approach is centred on the well-being and comfort of the occupants, highlighting every detail to create an environment that truly reflects who they are.

One of the main reasons I choose to define myself as an interior decorator is my desire to offer a specialised and accessible service for everyone. Unlike architects and interior architects who manage renovation projects and construction works, I focus exclusively on decoration, offering a carefully curated selection of furniture, lighting, and accessories, all customisable according to my clients’ preferences.

I work closely with my clients to design unique spaces that combine style and functionality. Thanks to my network of French and European suppliers, I am able to offer a range of high-quality furnishings tailored to each project and budget. My expertise in interior decoration allows me to find creative and aesthetic solutions to transform any space.

For example, in the case of second homes, my bespoke decorating approach combined with a full furnishing service offers an ideal solution for creating refined, functional, and personalised interiors. Every detail is carefully considered in advance: each piece of furniture or decor is displayed in photorealistic 3D renderings before being included in the shopping list. For clients, this represents a significant level of comfort and time savings : our team also handles the on-site installation of all furniture, lighting, and accessories, from the sofa to the smallest spoon! In this way, as an interior decorator, I position myself as a natural extension of the architect’s work. Their involvement often stops at the “ready-to-decorate” stage or custom layouts, whereas my role goes far beyond that, covering all aspects of interior decoration, from furniture selection to the smallest details such as curtains, decorative lighting, and much more.

Thus, I firmly believe that interior decoration is a discipline in its own right, with its own specificities and expertise. By specialising in this field, I am committed to offering my clients a unique and personalised experience, where creativity and well-being are at the heart of every project.
